Font
FS Albert is Alzheimer's Society's primary typeface. It has rounded, fluid qualities with a friendly and accessible appearance. It has been selected as it has a unique character, which helps to make our brand distinctive.
As a modern, sans serif font, FS Albert is clear and legible. We have three weights: light, regular and bold. A maximum of two weights can be used at one time the available combinations are: Bold and Light (for use in black text) and Bold and Regular (for use with text in colour). The heavier weight is used for headings and the lighter weight for body copy.
No italics are permitted except in the Publishing Department

Legibility
All copy should be set to a minimum size of 12pt to ensure legibility. The colour of all copy should be carefully considered to ensure that there is sufficient contrast against the background.
Generous leading (space between lines of text) that is a minimum of 2pt greater than the type size should be applied to further aid legibility. For example the leading for 12pt copy is 14pt.
A full return is required to distinguish new paragraphs.
Arial (secondary/internal typeface)
Arial must be used for all internal communications such as emails, correspondence and reports. This includes reports that may be produced in Word for external audiences.
We already use Arial for our internal font and this should continue.
It is recommended that when using Arial, the same guidelines on legibility are used.

Please note that even if you have FS Albert installed on your computer, when sending a Word document by email (or any attachment originating in an MS software application including Power Point) please use Arial or the recipient may not be able to read your attachment correctly. If you wish to email a document using FS Albert it is necessary to create a pdf before sending.
